Celtics head coach Ime Udoka was officially suspended for the upcoming season by the Boston Celtics after it was distinguished he had an affair with a female team staffer during at least last season.
A lot to diffuse here in the horny Ime Udoka situation. Let’s discuss the suspension first. Obviously on paper people are saying, so what? A head coach had some sex who cares yadda yadda. Well wasn’t just with any married women. Was with at least 1 fellow staffer on the team which is a violation of team rules that could result in suspension or termination of contract. So the rules are in place, he obviously knows he was in the wrong. As he took blame in his statement.
Very mature answer and the only one he could make at this time. There has been mass speculation that one of the staffers he had an affair wife was married to an exec on the team. Which if true would be a huge reason the severity of the suspension. Obviousl all consensual but in-theory if he is shagging a higher-ups wife not sure how he wasn’t fired. Is he going to return to work and be co-workers with the staffers and possible spouse. I think we will get the full details soon where we can connect all the dots. Another thought here is if the staffer(s) he was involved with.
Another storyline here is Udoka is currently in a public known relationship with long time actress Nia Long. Well isn’t that awkward.

My opinion simply is we need more facts before drawing a final standing but if that is the rules and he breached his contract I understand the organization giving him the punishment to the fullest effect. Strange to me why he wasn’t just fired. Obviously he can resign at any time and probably getting a coaching job elsewhere but doesn’t seem he will, which makes me believe there is a mutual understanding and agreement here.
What’s strange to me is the connection people are making on social media that somehow this suspension can bring up the RACE card? Makes no sense. Could’ve been a white coach there would’ve been the same rules and the same result would’ve taken place. Like most things when people pull the race card you can find examples from any race where the same situation took place. And fortunately for us you don’t have to go back very far in the NBA to find a prime example. Let’s flash all the way back to last year when a Timberwolves executive was not suspended but fired for having a relationship with a fellow female staffer, shocking I know.

To further explain the magnitude of why an organization needs to take action for inter house relationships is for potential lawsuits down the road. Say the staffer ended up getting promotions that could be exposed as a reason why, or if the staffer was fired after an affair ended, then you could sue and say he/she was fired because of that. So teams need to protect themselves in situations like that. Obvioulsy every team is different and certainly there are teams that would let this go like let’s say the Browns. But a prestigious organization like the Celtics this doesn’t surprise me one bit.
Last there has been a weird connection to this and the Bret Favre scandel in Mississippi. Obviously what Bret Favre did was wrong and despicable but it was reported across every media platform and the situation has been taken to court with money being paid back. Why Ime Udoka story has taken more of note for several reasons. He is the current head coach of the Boston Celtics, Bret Favre has been out of football for a decade. Being suspended for a year never happens and is a huge story. Bret Favre we say he is bad, terrible and as selfish as it gets but not much can be anaylazed after that. He doesn’t have a job in sports and doesn’t effect any sports teams. As Ryan Clark illustrated.
