Opening day has finally arrived, only 119 days later then first anticipated. Nonetheless you can feel some of the excitement. This will be the first of our four major sports to return to action here in the United States since Coronavirus shut it all down back in mid March.
The slate tonight to start us off is the reigning Rob Manfred piece of metal champions The Washington Nationals against The New York Yankees. Followed by some west coast action San Francisco Giants verse Los Angeles Dodgers.
Yankees V Nats
Gerrit Cole’s debut in a Yankee uniform. Now he’s been rocked a little in the scrimmages leading up to today but can’t look too much into that. Nerves shouldn’t be an issue being it’s not in the Bronx and no fans there in anticipation. Hard to gauge what home and road advantages there will be this year with the vacant stadiums. Scherzer for the Nats is always reliable but Juan Soto is out after testing positive for coronavirus just yesterday.
The play here is the Yankees -163. Not often do we get to see a full health Yankee lineup with Stanton and Judge. I think they’ll get off to a hot start and Cole will be pitching full throttle.
Side bets: I would lean over the 7.5 for runs. Would be a lock if this game was in yankee stadium.
Giants V Dodgers
UPDATE: Last second scratch for Kershaw tonight and he won’t pitch. New line coming soon.
The west coasts biggest baseball rivalry renews tonight and fortunately there won’t be any fights in the parking lot this year between Giants and Dodgers fans. Huge line in favor of the Kershaw lead Dodgers but Cueto is no joke but you not played a handful of games last year with a 5+ ERA. This is the Giants first game under new manger Gabe Kapler.
Solo bet on this game I’d take Dodgers RL -1.5 at -160. With the addition of Mookie Betts to an already loaded lineup I expect them to score 5+ runs tonight which should be more then enough.
Parlay action
The parlay play would be Yankees and Dodgers money line. Softens the blow of that huge -300 and comes out to a payout of +112. Just a bit over even which is ideal for a 2 teamer in MLB.
